Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video we're going to show you how to replace the air intake box on this 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD. It's the same as most 2000 to 2002 Chevy, GMC and Cadillac trucks with the 6 liter and 8.1 liter V8s.The items you'll need for this are a new air intake box from 1A Auto, flat blade screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, Torx 25 driver and penetrating oil.

The first thing you'll want to do, is use a flat blade screwdriver to loosen that bolt. That will loosen the clamp and you should be able to pull that hose right off. The next thing to do is, pull that air intake box towards you to release the clips on the bottom. Push it forward and pull it up and out.

As you can see, on the right is the old air intake box and on the left is the new one from 1A Auto. First, remove that air filter life indicator from the old air intake box and move it over to the new one. Remove the Phillips screws from the old air intake box. Fast forward as he removes the 4 screws. Remove the top of the old air intake box and then remove that air filter. Set that aside and then, using a T25 Torx bit or Torx driver, remove those T25 screws in the air intake box. Fast forward as he removes those 4 screws. Now put your air filter into your new air intake box, it should press right down in. Put the top on and then tighten those T25 Torx screws.

Start off by just spraying some penetrating oil into those holes that the air intake box will push into. To help you get the air intake box in there it helps if you move this mass airflow sensor. Just loosen up that bracket and pull that out. Push the air intake box down in. You may need to move it around a little bit to get it to fit down into place. Once you get those tabs lined up, push it right down into those holes. Take the mass airflow sensor and feed it down into the spot between the hose and the air intake box. It's easier if you push that straight into the air intake box and attach it to that first. As we finish up here, put the hose back on the mass airflow sensor then use your flat blade screwdriver to tighten up the clamps.
